Some Thoughts To Share re 13th Malaysia Election

Our country has just completed its election on May 5th, 2013. For the first time, the number of votes garnered by the opposition party (Pakatan Rakyat) went so close against the current ruling party (Barisan Nasional), which has been ruling Malaysia for the past 50 years. The fact of unchallenged government for such a long period has caused serious corruption happening in our country.

Outsiders may wonder why Barisan Nasional was never challenged? Is our country democracy matured enough? The Barisan Nasional has always controlled the main media in our country and therefore, the information released to the public is somewhat manipulated, until luckily, the born of the Internet technology and the wider usage of such technology among Malaysian. People somehow starting to realise the real situation of Malaysia and people wanted a change to the present government, a "Change" so hoped that went so close, only to find their dream destroyed for this 13th election as Barisan Nasional was still able to win marginally.
Now, I do not want to touch too much about the validity of the result of the recent election. Lots of rumours surfaced regarding dirty tactics used by Barisan Nasional to win this election but non of the claims were admitted by Barisan Nasional as reported in the main stream media but we can often see the videos and pictures of such wrongdoings evidence (of course non of this verified, yet) flooding on the net.
I just want to voice my worries, worries as a Malaysian living in this country. As a typical Malaysian who earns average salary, I feel that the cost of living has been increasing drastically over the years. Life starting to get so much tougher that both me and my wife are still wondering if both of us are able to raise a kid (we have been married for almost 1.5 years now). There's lack of efficient public transportation resulted in Malaysian needing to purchase cars to travel between home and place of work and mind you, car prices in Malaysia are a lot more expensive compared to its neighbour, thanks to our Ex-Prime Minister, Tun Mahathir to jack up the prices of foreign made car in order to protect the market of our national-made car, "Proton". Purchasing cars means we have to burden ourself financially with car loans. House prices in major cities (including Kota Kinabalu where I'm residing) is also increasing drastically with average apartment of 1,000 sq.ft costing in the range of RM280,000 to RM350,000 depends on location. In my case, thanks to my dad's advice that I have secured a house when the price was still low a couple of years ago but at these price mentioned earlier, not many average salary earner will be able to afford these houses unless they go for loans which will again, burden them financially for the rest of their life. With the financial burden of a car and a house, I guess people will just have to live their life financing their loans for the rest of their life, sick!

Furthermore, I really wish this country is to be taken care by a government that looks after the welfare of all races, equally in Malaysia. A country where all its residents no matter what races can all call themself as "Malaysian" proudly rather then "I'm a Malay", "I'm a Chinese" or "I'm an Indian".
To the present Barisan Nasional new government, do well for the next five years as you will be judged again in about 1,800 days.
