Devil Breath: Scopolamine

Have you ever heard of Devil's Breath?

Some times ago I watched a documentary about Devil's Breath. What it is? It is some kind of drug, known to be the world's scariest drug.

So how scary is this drug? When a victim unknowingly inhaled and consumed a very small portion of this drug, he or she can become physically controllable by the perpetrator even though the victim appeared to be fully conscious. The victim actually becomes hallucinated, and will follow order to do whatever is instructed by the perpetrator and most of the time, after the effect has gone, the victim has no idea or cannot remember what actually happened to him during the period he was victimized.

Among the things asked to do including withdrawal of moneys from a victim's ATM, rapes and robberies. When I read about the ATM case, I recalled something similar happened at our back yard some time ago. According to a local newspaper, the victim withdraw large sum of money and the money was passed to the person queuing just behind her (though the face of this person was unfortunately not captured in the closed circuit television (CCTV)). The victim later reported that she had no idea who was the person that she just gave the money to and she has no idea why she was doing so. She believed she was cast spell by this very person.

I wonder if this Devil's Breath is already circulating in our country even though the drug is well known in Columbia. The effect is surely scary in that:
  • Victim cannot remember what happened.
  • Victim appeared to be conscious to the people surrounding, which make it difficult for people to realize something is not right.
  • In large doses, this drug can actually kills
  • Drug comes in the form of powder and is extremely portable.
  • A person can easily fall victim just by inhaling/consume very small portion of the drug
I managed to do a brief research on the net but unable to verify claims by the victims of this drug particularly point 2 above. However managed to link the drug to Scopolamine, the scientific term for this drug and in fact, it is used in the medical industry to treat motion sickness, nausea and spasms, just to name a few.

Do you have any knowledge or experience about this drug? Please leave your comment below and i'm particularly interested in your comment for point 2 above.

Please watch the documentary regarding the drug here.
