Missing MH370: My Thought On How The Chinese Media Portrayed Malaysia

First of all, I need to make myself clear that i'm not being insensitive to the relatives of the missing MH370 victims. What I am about to say may not be to your liking (particularly if you're from China) but I still feel that I need to voice out in respond to all negative comments regarding how Malaysia handled this incident of missing MH370.

Recently I have seen lots of unfavorable comments particularly from the Chinese media on how bad Malaysia handled the missing of the aircraft all over my Facebook account as well as online news. What is more annoying is the fact that even the Chinese celebrities are criticizing how bad Malaysia handled the whole incident, painting a very bad image of Malaysia. This is now at a worrying level where one of the Chinese celebrities even suggested their citizen to boycott Malaysian products or visiting Malaysia.

I personally think that all these people are being IRRATIONAL and how funny these celebrities, someone who is influential to have acted in such a childish and irresponsible way. They need to understand that first of all, the missing of MH370 is not something everyone has wished for. It happened, and I personally don't see the government is hiding anything.

I have no idea from which angle these relatives of the MH370 victims are viewing this incident and suspected information hiding from our government. They could have suspected something is not right when Malaysia initially searched the area of South China Sea instead of focusing on the Indian Ocean after more evidences are pointing to this area. They could have also suspected something when Malaysia did not reacted to a military radar that indicated flight MH370 had changed it's path from heading Beijing to heading westward of Malaysia. They could have also found that something is not right when Malaysian authority is holding back information or information that is contradicting what they get from other sources.

I can't comment on the slow reaction of Malaysian authority in reacting to the missing of MH370 and how bad Malaysia handled this case as claimed by these Chinese media but they have to understand that this could be world's first case as such similar incident had never happened before, let alone the experience of Malaysia in handling such case. It is unfair to us Malaysian if they have decided to boycott us just because of this incident. Such incident could happen to any country including China.

In China, there were many products produced by unethical manufacturer such as the case of baby milk and other fake food scandals that has caused countless deaths. Does that mean we have to boycott ALL products from China? I have many relatives and friends visited China and got conned by their unethical citizen, does that mean we have to stop visiting China? And how about your handling of terrorist attack in Kunming? How well have you prepared for such attack that killed dozens and wounding about 100 of your own citizens? Does that mean we have to stop visiting or supporting China?

I'm not at all suggesting that our government have perfectly handled the case of the missing MH370 and just for your information, i'm not a great supporter of our current government too and therefore, i'm not speaking on behalf of it. I'm merely speaking on behalf of Malaysia, my country, the very land that I loved so much.

This brief articles is not meant to attack our friends from China but please be rational in your judgement regarding this MH370 incident. All of us are deeply wounded by what had happened too. Let us just pray for MH370 and hope that the aircraft can be recovered soon and all questions be answered.
