Political Parties vs Religion

I was stuck in the traffic jam  on the way home. While looking at the colourful flags by political parties raised along the highway, suddenly I have this thought. I was thinking, what's the similarities between Political Parties and Religion.

1. Both looking to attact people to join their causes.

We have political parties reaching out to the average public (especially now for the upcoming general election in Malaysia). Religious people on the other hand do the same thing by persuading the public to join their beliefs.

2. Both always give convinving speeches.

Leaders of political parties are very hardworking nowadays to give sweet speeches to fish for their votes. On the other hand, religious leader do the same in this respect.

3. People always get dissappointed with the political party or religion they themself choosed.

When people have choosen a particular political party, they get very disappointed after some time due to unfulfilled promises and eventually, they leave the political party for another one which they "believe" will fulfill their wishes. Same goes to religioun. Believers get frustrated when what they have hope for or wished did not materialize.

4. Supporters always acted irrationally.

How irrational? Take for an example of a political party gathering at my place, supporter applaused, shouted loudly in support for their political leader. The scene was just like how die hard fans would act for their idols.

My thought, perhaps, people should be more rational in choosing the political party in the upcoming Malaysia General Election instead of blindly listening to one side's propaganda.
